Norwegian Vikings ruled over the Orkney Isles for hundreds of years and have had much influence in the art and lifestyle of the people in Orkney. This features strongly in our St Magnus design. While our Westness design originates from the jewellery of ancient Celtic people.
There are many other designs which can be fitted into selected furniture frames.
'St Magnus' is inspired from this magnificent stained glass window in St Magnus Cathedral. The Cathedral was founded in honour of Saint Magnus, Earl of Orkney by Earl Rognvald in 1137 in memory of his uncle. During extensive refurbishment between 1913 and 1930 stained glass was added to most of the windows.'Westness' is inspired by a Celtic brooch discovered while excavating a burial site on the Island of Rousay. A Viking grave was accidentally discovered in 1963 and revealed two oval brooches and a beautiful, ornamental ringed cloak-pin now known as the Westness Brooch. The silver-gilt ringed pin with gold filigree and inlaid amber was probably made in the 8th century, but was still used in the Viking period in the 9th century.
Runic text can be added within the furniture frames to create a truly unique and personalised set.

~ Just a thought ~
Why should you buy a piece of furniture made from Far Eastern, plastic coated chip board,
when after a while it sags and the edges split?
I can have a designer framed unit which looks great, that will last for generations,
might even become an heirloom and what's more, for a SIMILAR price!
